Overview
Takasugi Shinsaku is a human boss using pistol and katana. His moveset is similar to the Avenger (Red Grave enemies). Ninjutsu strategy is very effective against him, and he's weak to fire.

Core Strategy
Stunlock Combo:
- Shuriken Stunlock - You can often stun him by throwing shuriken
- Quick Attack - Heavy attack finisher after shuriken stun
- Repeat - Throw another shuriken, repeat the process
- Behind - If he blocks or attacks, dodge behind to recharge Ki
Fire Damage is Key
Takasugi is extremely weak to fire. Use Mystery Flame and Shard Bomb to quickly ignite him for massive damage. Try to apply fire effects rapidly in succession.
Summon Burst Strategy
- Start Combat - Immediately use Izamoto summon seal for massive Ki drain
- Ki Drain - Follow with quick attack combos and shuriken to drain his Ki
- Full Burst - Spam summon seals, ninjutsu, and interleaved shuriken quick attacks
- Fire Ignite - Try to apply fire ninjutsu rapidly in succession for massive damage
After using all summon seals, his HP will be very low. This strategy depletes his HP extremely quickly.
Veteran Mission Setup
Eternal Rift Tasks:
Complete the 3 available veteran missions in the Eternal Rift (talk to NPCs with "!" icons, then do their missions via the shrine battle scrolls). The Onmyo veteran mission gives the "Summon Base" skill text which doubles your summon seal uses. This is one of the strongest skills in the game, so make sure to equip it and choose your strongest summon seals.
