Combat Strategy

Overview

Minamoto no Yoritomo is a winged yokai boss wielding a sword and using wind magic. His attack patterns are similar to the previous Great Tengu (Otengu) boss. The ninjutsu strategy remains effective against him.

Preparation

Before the Fight:

Clear All Collectibles - Gather all possible collectibles for area completion stat boosts (adds up to a lot!)
Recommended Level: 90+ for easier fight
Required Ninjutsu: Shuriken + Mystery Flame + Shard Bomb

Stat Build:

Heart: - For damage output
Skill: - For damage output
Magic: - For ninjutsu damage
Stamina: - 20+ minimum for HP
Armor: - Use light armor under 30% weight for quick dodging

Core Strategy

Basic Combat Pattern:

Dodge Forward-Left - Circle behind the boss to avoid attacks
Quick Combos - Land 1-2 melee combos from behind to build ninjutsu
Back Away - When ninjutsu is full, retreat to safe distance
Ninjutsu Burst - Unleash all ninjutsu + summon seal

Dangerous Attacks

Double Dash Attack

MOST DANGEROUS: When he glows red, he dashes forward twice - the second dash locks onto you and deals massive damage. Learn the dodge timing or counter with your Soul Skills (□+R1) or best R2 stance change skill.

Grapple Attack

Surprisingly easy to dodge compared to other bosses. Just forward-left dodge will avoid it.

Wind Projectiles

He frequently fires wind projectiles but they're easy to sidestep dodge.

Phase 2 - Wind Storm

What Changes: In phase 2, he fires more projectiles and uses ground wind shockwave attacks. Continue dodging until he finishes this attack sequence.

Counter Attack: After he misses wind projectiles, it's usually a good time to rush in and deal melee damage.

Free Damage Opportunities

Whenever he transforms between phases, you can deal massive critical damage from behind. Watch for the transformation animation and position yourself behind him immediately.

Your ninjutsu "Mystery Flame + Shard Bomb" can quickly ignite him for good burn damage. Keep applying pressure with fire damage to whittle down his HP steadily.
